Focus

Nestled in North Yorkshire, lies a photography retreat that's worth discovering. Our aim is to create a space where creativity and inspiration thrive, where you'll have the opportunity to learn from the world's best photographers, visual artists and a specialist Business Coach. But more than that, you'll connect with like-minded individuals, sharing stories and experiences that fuel your passion for photography.

We believe in taking a deeper look at the artist, exploring their influences & motivations, and how they balance their work and family life. We'll also explore topics beyond technical skills, such as the artist perspective, creative process and personal growth.

Our schedule is simple, giving you structured time for talks & shoots but also plenty of time for the small moments in-between. We'll share meals, engage in small conversations, and create an environment that fosters growth and learning. And if you need some time away, you can unwind in the hot tubs, make use of the amazing Workshop or explore North Yorkshire.

We strive to create an experience that inspires you to discover your unique vision and style.

Speakers

Life & Art | Monika Frias

www.monikafrias.com

The only thing Mónika Frías loves more than a good story is being the one to tell it. A videographer, photographer and graphic designer, Mónika has been sharing visual tales for more than 10 years. Drawing from live music, classic photography, Architecture and fashion, her style is timeless, emotional and elegant with an editorial flair. Mónika thrives on the creative freedom of photography and art direction, and she understands the importance of her role. Whether shooting for a couple or a brand, “I know that my way of telling the story is how it will be remembered, and I try to make the experience appear in frames the way it felt in person. It’s beautiful when a couple or client comes to me and says, ‘It’s better than we even imagined.’” Mónika lives in Barcelona, Spain but travels worldwide and only works with a limited amount of clients each year to insure high standards and quality experience. Named one of the best of Europe by THE LANE.

2.5 hour talk. 1 hour shoot. 30 minute cosy campfire open topic.

Branding & Design | Ruth & Nigel

www.nigeljohn.com

“Wedding photography is a very social practice, it’s about people and as photographers we must not forget that. You have to be a people person, after all take tech and your kit spec away and all you’re really left with is your personality and creative eye.
Maintain a voracious appetite for the consumption of visual information; of images, of light, of moments and of people in general - be open, and pay respect to the here and now. Be very generous with intake, curiosity and articulation of moments and the nuances within those moments. Follow the day and the mood and ensure intake is a differentiated - varied intake, because it’s only by being informed by the energy of people (as well as visual culture in general) that you can do your best work”

Nigel is in love with Ruth and dad to two young humans named Elke and Moss.

2.5 hour talk. 1 hour shoot. 30 minute cosy campfire open topic.

Perspective & Drive | Michael Sreenan

www.michaelsreenan.com

Michael's personal experience has led him to reflect on the deeper motivations behind his work, and he is now interested in exploring this topic with others. He is curious to know what drives each of us to create, what influences our work, and how our unique perspectives shape the final product. By having these conversations, Michael hopes to gain insights into the creative process and the role that art plays in our lives. Ultimately, he believes that understanding the motivation behind our work can help us to continually produce meaningful and impactful art.

1.5 hour talk. 30 minute cosy campfire open topic.

Inspiration | Craig Fleming

www.craigfleming.net
